Frequently askes questions
Does an Adjustment have to involve cracking the Spine?
Not necessarily. The goal of a chiropractic manipulation is to induce motion to a vertebra that is essentially stuck or lacking movement. This can be done with a “cracking” style adjustment or with the use of an arthrostim adjusting tool which effectively mobilizes the joint, or we can use a drop table style adjustment.
What should I wear for my visit?
Clothing such as a t-shirt and shorts, or yoga pants are ideal. We have gowns that can be used if needed.
What should I expect after the first visit?
We will let you know what is wrong and how long it will take to fix the problem. X-rays, MRI, or a referral may also be indicated. Treatment will begin on the first visit, so some people may experience some slight soreness.
What is the expected time frame of treatment?
Every case is different and there are multiple factors. It depends on the severity of the problem, how long the problem has been going on, age, physical activity, diet, and how proactive you are with treatment. In general, I have seen some mild issues resolve in 3 to 6 visits or less, some much more chronic issues may take around 14 to 16 visits.
How does your treatment differ from other Chiropractors?
My exams are typically more in depth. I have credentials and experience in soft tissue injuries such as sports injuries and also with spine issues. This is to ensure a proper diagnosis. The proper region for treatment isn't always where the pain is located, so a detailed exam helps to discover where to look. With treatment I prefer to use muscle release techniques, and I rely on instrument adjusting more frequently, especially in the neck.
I also prefer to focus on treating the bio-mechanical deficits in the spine and muscular injuries. I also teach my patients on how they can self treat at home, and recognize issues that come up where they need to see me or other providers.
How long are appointments?
Initial visits are 45 minutes to 1 hour. Regular visits and re-evaluations are 15 to 20 minutes. There are extended visits up to 30 minutes, but this would be discussed with the treatment plan.
Do you provide massage?
I do not, but some of the treatment may include myofascial release muscle work. This is focused on the diagnosis and the treatment plan. If there is extensive muscle work that is needed, I would recommend patient's to massage therapist that I work with.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I am currently accepting most major HMOs and PPOs. However, every plan is different and you should check with your plan.
What if I don't have insurance coverage?
Not a problem. There is a fee schedule that is itemized, but I am also contracted with Chiro Health USA. They are a network where members can receive discounted rates from Chiropractors.
